Dr. Joseph Prosper (Dr. Joey)

As the primary initiative in Haiti, LifePaths Global Alliance operates a revolutionary telemedicine clinic in the small rural community of L’Estere. Headed by Chief Medical Advisor in Haiti, Dr. Joseph Prosper (Dr. Joey), M.D., the clinic provides free patient access to medical services in this very remote area of Haiti. Those living in this community and the surrounding areas would otherwise have no feasible access to health care.

With the help of Dr. Paul Gahlinger, M.D., Ph.D., through the use of his Telemedicine System, this state of the art initiative allows patients access to high-quality medical care via tele-videoconferencing and the use of data-transmitting instruments. Local medical staff in L'Estere, Haiti can now communicate with larger medical facilities in Port au Prince, Haiti and in North America, providing much more efficient and effective medical care.

LifePaths Global Alliance, along with Dr. Joey, hired and trained a network of telemedicine assistants (TMA's) to aid in these efforts. These TMA's were selected from the local community of L’Estere and trained in Port au Prince using a curriculum developed by Dr. Gahlinger.

Volunteers who travel with us to Haiti will spend a day in the telemedicine clinic (and the adjoining pharmacy) which also operates in conjunction with an eyeglass clinic, giving local Haitians the opportunity to see clearly, for what is often the first time they have seen clearly throughout their entire lives.
