Our team has arrived in Haiti, and is having an amazing time so far!! The team has been very busy since their arrival. They had the chance to tour Port au Prince, visit ‘Haiti Medicare’ hospital, as well an orphanage….all on their FIRST day!! One of the best parts of their trip so far has been the opportunity to sit down and chat with the tent city’s leader in the neighbourhood of Delmas 33, and get some insight into the situation in Port au Prince’s tent city and the ongoing rebuilding efforts happening in Haiti. The group will have so much to share upon their arrival home!
Our group of eager volunteers have decided to opt out of their relaxing ‘beach day’ that was scheduled for Friday. Instead, they have decided to set up a mobile clinic in the tent city in Port au Prince. It seems the group is using their time wisely and have been able to have some amazing experiences already!
Today our medical volunteers worked in the hospital with Dr. Joey in the morning and then went up the hill to the area of Fairmont where they visited the Wings of Hope Orphanage, and stopped for lunch at the mission restaurant.
The group arrived in L'estere, (after some car problems!) where the girls at the guest house had an amazing dinner ready for them! After a walk around town, everyone was exhausted and ready for bed.
Tomorrow the team will be working at the telemedicine clinic, and those interested will be doing some construction for us and working in our boutique.
